My 21st century classroom

Welcome
My name is Brittany Wakley and I am an Early Childhood/ Special Ed. major. I want to teach kindergarten, when I become a teacher and I want my students to feel comfortable in my classroom and around me. I plan to have my kids decorate my room throughout the year with the different arts and craft lessons that they will learn about. My class room will be a two way street, not only will I teach them but they will teach me as well. I want to be a fun and interesting teacher where the kids will always want to come back the next day.

Setting
I would like to teach kindergarten in a rural area. I feel that the less kids in each classroom, the easier it would be for the kids to learn different lessons. If they had questions I would have more time to help my students understand what I was teaching them. If I had to teach in an urban area I would, but only for the experience.
-Classroom Outline
In my classroom I would have round tables with four students to a table. I would like to have both a whiteboard and a smart board in my classroom. I would have a reading area set up, with bean bag chairs, and a few comfy chairs/couches. Right by the reading center I would have a Students and me area. In this area I would take three to four kids at a time and sit down and have a discussion with them about the lesson I had taught earlier in the day. I would have lots of storage space so I could orgainze everything in labeled tubs. Having a bathroom and a sink in my room is also a priority. The gathering spot would be by the white board, I would have a rug for the kids to sit on and an easel to draw or write anything that I needed to.

Instructional Glimpse
div class="prezi-player">
When starting a lesson on the alphabet it is important for you to make sure the lesson you have planned is interesting, especially if you have certain kids saying or thinking "but i already know the alphabet." Creating and interesting lesson will show them that even though they may already know the alphabet it is fun to practice and learn a little bit more.
